CULTURAL INFORMATION // Mexico City's culture is the result of the mixing of indigenous and Spanish traditions, foods, music, religion, and architecture.  It is a place where no matter where one looks, the old meets the new to create something unique.  A good example of this is found in the city's traditional foods which include chili peppers and tortillas--flat corn-based breads that were eaten by the ancient Aztecs and which are eaten today at almost every meal--and foods like beef and tomatoes are also very common in the Mexican diet.

Another good example of the mixing of native and Spanish cultures to create one that is uniquely Mexican is the language.  While the official language spoken in Mexico City is Spanish, many of the words used there are actually derived from ancient indigenous languages.

DAY TO DAY LIFE // Our students wake up on the third floor of a small apartment building across the parking lot from the school. They will then spend the day serving in the school. In the afternoons they will be going out into the community serving those in need and sharing the Gospel. On the week ends they serve in the church. Once a week is a set aside day for sabbath.

MINISTRY // We partner with Ed and Anita Hoagland who pastor Iglesia Bautista de la Capital located in the west central part of the city. Ed and Anita have been serving in MXC for nearly 30 years. The church has a christian school called United Capital School which our students volunteer in.
